Kisumu Lions Eye and Medical Center Launched Today
The Governor of the great county of Kisumu Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o flanked by his Deputy Dr. Ochieng Owili presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the state of art Kisumu Lions Eye and Medical Centre at the Uzima University Grounds courtesy of the Lions Club through Dr. Rasikbhai Kantaria and Mansukh Gudka.
This facility that sits on a five acres piece of land donated by Uzima University through the Archbishop his grace Zacchaeus Okoth will go in history as the first dedicated Eye Teaching Hospital in Kenya serving not only Kenyans but residents of East and Central Africa.
The 300 million shillings investment is no a mean feat and goes along way to support the county’s development vision in matters health. Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on his part challenged entrepreneurs and development agencies to grab the available opportunities as Kisumu is set to host the 9th edition of Africities that will attract over ten thousand delegates all over the world.
“We must pull all stops to ensure that Kisumu is ready and delivers a conference like never experienced in the past eight chapters of Africities.” Gov. Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o, said.
Arch Bishop Okoth in his remarks said that the partnership between Uzima and the Lions Club was borne of the responsibility to invest in our future.
