Kisumu’s Seredo Bags Two Awards in the Riverwood Academy Gala 2018
Seredo won "Best original score" and "Best vernacular film" Awards
Last night, Kisumu city for the first time and in the history of the celebrated entertainment award, hosted the much revered and respected Riverwood Awards gala away from the capital – Nairobi.
The event held at the prestigious Acacia Premier Hotel brought together stars from all over Kenya and East Africa, and the whole world.
This saw Seredo 2 winning two awards 2 in the “Best original score” and “Best vernacular film” categories.
The film produced and directed by both Odongo Robbie and Nick Adongo debuted in the screens this May at an all-sold-out ticket public screening at ANGA IMAX Theatres at Mega City Mall, Kisumu.
Celebrity stars as Mama Kayai, Suzanna Owiyo, Jacky Vyke (Awinja), fashionista Carol Odero, the Vioja Mahakamani judge among others were in attendance.
MCs were Big Ted and Wilbroda of the famous Papa Shirandula sitcom.
Mama Kayai also got awarded with a film warrior award as the pioneer of Kenya sitcoms, with her award winning Vitimbi in which she acted alongside the late Mzee Ojwang.
The KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua, the PS Fatuma Hirsi, CEC Tourism, Sports, Culture Kisumu County Achie Alai, Kisumu Senator Outa, Kisumu County Deputy Governor Dr. Mathew Owili, CEO Youth Fund Ronnie Osumba, politician Brian Weke among many many others all attended the event.

It was a night of fun, pomp and color. Attendees didn’t disappoint. They all came, dressed up for a red carpet event.
