Published

on

Mafreka Entertainment last weekend hosted a very successful cake tasting event, held at the Nyanza Club in Milimani, Kisumu.

The event brought bakers from all over the city to one stage and to showcase their artistic skills and cake baking prowess.

The cakes were all finger-licking good, and the Kisumu community who attended in their numbers satisfied their taste buds with the sumptuous cakes.

The artistry on display of the cakes couldn’t go unnoticed, as the designs wowed the audience and kept on attracting more and more tasters.

Cake bakers who participated had one major requirement to fulfill. Bake a 3kg cake to be sampled/tasted by the attendees.

They didn’t disappoint as there was too much cake for everyone. Kids enjoyed themselves, and had so much fun too at the kids corner.

Jumadi Clara and crew didn’t disappoint either entertaining with her soothing voice.

Birthday cakes, wedding cakes, fruit cakes, muffins, Queen cakes, dessert cakes were all available for sampling.

Event Invite: Safe Spaces for Girls and Women Online

Published

on

In line with Goal 11 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, this year’s theme is “Safe Spaces for Youth”. These safe spaces include civic spaces for governance interactions, public spaces for leisure and sports, and digital spaces for cross-border virtual interactions.

Unlike every kind of space that enables youth engagement, safe spaces add a layer of safety, non-violence and non-marginalisation devoid of bias. In Africa, several safe spaces already exist but not enough are digital; online.

But in these times, digital safe spaces have become as — or even more — important than their physical counterparts in Africa. But why digital safe spaces?

We are therefore calling on all young women and girls for this networking discussion session on either December 20 or 21, 2018 for a two-hour talk from 3-5pm.
