Kisumu County in collaboration with the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO (KNATCOM) is slated to host the 3rd UNESCO National Cultural Celebration at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground from September 19th to 23rd.
The cultural celebration will showcase an array of activities such as; food fairs, talent and musical shows, fashion, benga luo night and exhibitions will be officially opened by the President H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, when he visits the lakeside city in the month.
Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o alongside his Deputy Dr. Ochieng’ Owili have therefore welcomed all the 46 counties to Kisumu county, a county of amazing people, thriving culture and numerous investment opportunities.
Dr. Evangeline Njoka, UNESCO (KNATCOM) Secretary General expressed her optimism that it will be a successful cultural celebrations in Kisumu; sentiments that were echoed by the Chairman of the National Museums of Kenya Dr. Mzalendo Kibunjia. He also confirmed that Omieri – the famous snake from Nyakach will return to Kisumu and then onto Nyakach, 30 years after her unfortunate death.
