Lake Int’l Pan-African Film Festival Winners 2017

The Lake International Pan-African Film Festival (LIPFF) 2017 came to an end last Saturday at the Anga Mega Cinema, Mega City Mall, Kisumu. This festival, the second of a series of annual events comprised a workshop for film-makers and producers and also had a compete two days of screening of the various short films that were submitted in the international contest.

There was also a panel discussing “Arts and Film for Governance and Social Change” at this year’s festival.

From the list of winners, you can see that the festival has lived to its Pan-African taste, with submissions and winners from all over Africa.

LIPFF, curated and hosted in Kisumu, is sure the next big film festival in Kenya, and Africa.

  • BEST KENYAN FILM – Kizingo
  • BEST DOCUMENTARY – Macoconi (The Roots of our Children) (Mozambique)
  • BEST ANIMATION FILM – Crush (Nigeria)
  • BEST DIRECTOR – Simiyu Barasa – Kizingo (Kenya)
  • BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY – Zilizala (Kenya)
  • BEST SCRIPTWRITER  – Gitonga Mwangi – Trail of Misery (Kenya)
