Kisumu County Host World’s 38th Tourism Day

The abundance of tourist destinations like Luanda Magere, Omieri and Kit Mikayi are key attractions on The Western Circuit. These, together with Lake Victoria (otherwise known as Nam Lolwe) are key tourist and cultural spots enjoyed by local and international tourists alike. Furthermore , the rich culture of the Luo community presents added opportunities for tourists to enjoy. Add to this the diverse and robust music, drama, fashion and dance scenes and The Great County of Kisumu becomes a must-do attraction haven not to be missed.

The Deputy Governor of The Great County, Dr. Ochieng’ today flagged off The 38th World Tourism Day  procession that kicked of at Prosperity House, Kisumu.

Speaking at the function where he hosted the Siaya Deputy Governor Dr. James Okumbe, KWS officials , dignitaries from the Tourism Fund, the Curator of the Kisumu Museum, members from the Council of Governors from Nairobi and a host of tourism stakeholders from within and outside the county officials, Dr. Ochieng’ Owili reiterated the county’s commitment to exploit the tourism sectors potential on order that it sit firmly as destination on any tourist circuit.

This would enhance the county’s socio and economic growth.

The guest visited The Impala Sancutary and the beautiful resort – Jambo Impala Eco Lodge.

The team then enjoyed a cruise ride from the Eco Lodge, a property owned and managed by KWS to Tilapia beach. They experienced  breathtaking views of Kisumu, passing by the papyrus stretch onto the bustling Lwang’ni beach world famous for fresh tilapia fish. They passed the port and expressed a firm desire to rehabilitate it to its former glory. As the sun set they docked at Tilapia beach.
