The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will roll-out a 30-day mass voter registration drive from 16th January to 14th February, 2016.
This exercise is meant to increase the number of registered voters by 4-6 million. Currently, the number of citizens in the register of voters stands at 15,857,185.
This will be the last opportunity for eligible Kenyan citizens to register as voters in the run-up to the 8th August, 2017 General Election.
Addressing a media forum in Nairobi on 9th January, 2016, IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba announced that the Commission will deploy 7,793 Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) countrywide at County Assembly Ward level.
“Kit distribution criteria based on geographical area and the kits will be opened to allow registration across the ward. The kit movement schedule will be shared with locals while voter transfers will be done at constituency level,” Mr. Chiloba said.
