Dala Fest – Festival by the Lake Victoria, Kisumu

Dalafest – a cultural event with an out of this world experience was held in the lake side city of Kisumu the weekend of Dec 17/18, 2016 at the picturesque Dunga Hill Camp at the shores of Lake Victoria.

The festival was celebrating the diverse cultures that make up Kenya. With performances from great Kenyan acts of Eric Wainaina of “Nchi Ya Kitu Kidogo” fame, to Chris Adwar of “Kenchic” fame, there were also live bands who brought their A-game into the festivals. These were: Bengatronix, Third Hand Music, The CBK Music, Uzima Vybes among others.

Dalafest has defined itself as that festival that brings people from the various global cultures together. This time, it was also a moment for those who went to M.M. Shah Primary School to reunite, despite their years of attending the school.

Dalafest 2016 also was a moment of mentorship workshops for the Kisumu based artists, and also for finding solutions to solve the environmental challenges that upsets Lake Victoria. Sessions were led by Eric Wainaina among others.

All in all, Dalafest 2016 was a fun-filled celebration of culture, music and societal bonds. It was a great time for families.

Kids were not left behind, and they too had a time of their lives, gliding and jumping in the bouncy castles etc.
