Seems online is the new battlefield in waging communication wars.

With the advent of technology, developers have taken it into their strides to develop softwares, and applications to make communication efficient, secure, and widely available.

Welcome to #UgandaElections 2016.

First things first:

This triggered use of VPNs.

VPN 101

A virtual private network (VPN) extends a private network across a public network, such as the Internet. It enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network, and thus are benefiting from the functionality, security and management policies of the private network. A VPN is created by establishing a virtual point-to-point point connection through the use of dedicated connections, virtual-tunnelling protocols, or traffic encryption.

And then a parody account of the president also jumped in explaining the shutdown.

Even other presidential aspirants jumped on the bandwagon, telling their supporters to use VPNs.

Even Kenyan journos who were covering the election event in Uganda were not left behind.

And then Ugandans from all over the banana country jumped in, some with memes.
